• District Mission Statement

As caring and conscientious administrators, teachers, parents, and community members of the Riesel Independent School District, we set forth and establish this educational philosophy for our children to enable them to lead productive lives in a rapidly changing technological environment.

All students need to develop essential academic skills to acquire a knowledge base on which to build lifelong learning. All students will be taught a core curriculum of English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, fine arts, health, physical education, and technological literacy, as well as elective courses that foster lifetime vocational and recreational skills. All students will acquire knowledge of citizenship and economic responsibilities and an appreciation of our common American heritage as well as our individual multicultural backgrounds. To the full extent of their individual abilities, students will be provided the opportunity to develop the ability to think logically, independently, creatively, and to communicate effectively. Realizing that we are a small community, we need to adequately prepare our children socially and academically for competitive life outside our community. Teaching personal accountability, sound ethics, and wise decision-making, are important. Educating our children to be productive in a changing future necessitates an excellent, progressive educational system. A system that can accomplish this mission must be farsighted, and be characterized by quality, accountability, and community involvement.

We thereby declare that such a system, depicted by quality instruction, equity for all students, and accountability for continuous improvement, will have the vitality to prepare our children for the changes and challenges of the future; a future which will belong to the educated.
