What's happening in Kersten's class? |

Welcome to the Fifth grade. We are looking forward to an exciting year! Many new things will be happening this year! As many of you already know your child will be taking three TAKS tests this year. They are responsible for Reading, Math, and Science. I feel all of these are very important to your child's learning process. I have very high expectations of my students and they always seem to rise to the occasion. :) I am responsible for Spelling, Language, Science and also a Reading class. You will be able to find out what we are learning in each of these classes weekly by checking my web-page. We are studying unit 1 in Spelling this week. This unit's Spelling strategy is about words that have short vowel sounds. Many of these words are easy and should not be a problem for Fifth graders. In Language we will start out learning about the four types of sentences. Science time will be spent learning about Life Science for the first several weeks. There is an extra credit assignment for the students which is due September 7. During our reading class we will be learning new vocabulary, and we will also be spending some time reading for fluency and comprehension. Happy Learning, Mrs. K :) |
